1. Overview

These Terms of Service govern your use of the NWSAlerts.net website and the NWSAlerts desktop application (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

This Service is an independent dashboard and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the United States Government, NOAA, the National Weather Service, or any other government agency.

2. Informational Use Only

The Service is provided for informational and situational awareness purposes only. Weather data displayed may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate.

Do not rely on this Service as your sole source of emergency information. Always follow official warnings and instructions from the National Weather Service, your local emergency management agency, and other official sources during severe weather events.

3. No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Weather data is sourced from third-party government APIs (NWS, SPC, NHC, WPC, and others) that are outside our control. Outages, delays, or errors in those upstream sources will affect data displayed on this Service.

4. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator(s) of this Service shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to damages resulting from reliance on weather data displayed, missed alerts, or service downtime.

You agree to use the Service only for its intended purpose. You agree not to:

6. Desktop Application

The NWSAlerts desktop app is provided free of charge. It is offered without warranty of any kind. You use it at your own risk. The app may be updated automatically; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of any changes to the app.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on data from third-party sources including NOAA, NWS, SPC, NHC, WPC, Iowa State University IEM, NASA FIRMS, OpenStreetMap, CartoDB, the U.S. Census Bureau, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and FEMA OpenFEMA. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of those services. Links or references to third-party sites do not constitute endorsement.

8. Changes to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any such modification, suspension, or discontinuation.

9. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
